Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for developing e-LKPD (Electronic Student Worksheets) based on the KWL (Know, Want, Learn) strategy in visual and audiovisual text learning in elementary schools. The background of this research is based on the gap between curriculum demands that require students to be able to analyze information and values in texts and the real conditions in the field showing that students still experience difficulties in conducting deep analysis. This study uses a descriptive approach with simple qualitative and quantitative methods. Data collection techniques were carried out through questionnaires, interviews, and document studies with research subjects as many as 22 students and one teacher. The results showed that all students (100%) liked visual based learning and 86% had good learning motivation, but 47% of students still had difficulty analyzing text. In addition, 73% of students stated it was easier to learn using e-LKPD and 82% were interested in learning based on the KWL strategy. The interview results showed that the teacher had never used e-LKPD but strongly supported the development of interactive learning media. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the development of e-LKPD based on the KWL strategy is urgently needed to improve students' active participation and critical thinking skills in visual and audiovisual text learning in elementary schools
